At the exit of the Tortolì town there is the San Salvatore park.
It is not really a natural park, But a tourist village where you can admire ancient Nuragic buildings dating back to the prehistoric age. The nuraghi are tower -shaped constructions that date back to 2000 years BC.. Their name derives from the primitive language of the place that indicated with Nur the heaps of quarry -shaped stones.
In addition to these wonderful architecture, rigorously unique in their kind if not on the Sardinian territory, Menhir tombs and monoliths are also found, dating back thousands of years ago.
Not exactly in Tortolì, But the Gennargentù National Park is located quite close.
It is a vast protected territory and does not only concern marine areas but also the hinterland, that of Sardinia is often underestimated.
Here you will find numerous species of animals and plants, typical of the Mediterranean scrub and forests on the mountainous dorsals of the only mountain complex of the island.
